Details
Summary
CVE-2024-24815 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability affecting older versions of CKEditor4, an open-source HTML editor. The core HTML parsing module is impacted, potentially putting all editor instances with full-page editing mode or Advanced Content Filtering enabled at risk. This configuration commonly includes CDATA elements for scripts and styles, which the vulnerability exploits. Attackers can inject malformed HTML content, bypassing the Advanced Content Filtering mechanism and executing JavaScript code. The flaw is due to a faulty CDATA content detection, leaving the editor susceptible to intentional attacks. A patch is available in CKEditor4 version 4.24.0-lts.
