Summary

CVE-2024-24557 is a vulnerability in Moby, an open-source project created by Docker for software containerization. The vulnerability affects users on versions older than 23.0 as well as users on 23.0+ who have explicitly opted out of Buildkit or are using the /build API endpoint. The vulnerability allows an attacker with knowledge of the Dockerfile being used to poison the cache and make users pull a specially crafted image that appears as a valid cache candidate. The vulnerability is classified as MEDIUM severity with a base score of 6.9 according to CVSS version 3.1. Patches have been released in versions 24.0.9 and 25.0.2 to remediate the vulnerability.
