Summary

CVE-2024-23839 is a vulnerability affecting Suricata, a widely-used network Intrusion Detection System and Intrusion Prevention System. Prior to version 7.0.3, the software is susceptible to a heap use after free issue when processing specially crafted traffic. This vulnerability arises when the ruleset utilizes the http.request_header or http.response_header keywords. The flaw has been resolved in version 7.0.3. As a temporary measure, users are advised to avoid using the http.request_header and http.response_header keywords to mitigate potential risks.
