Summary

CVE-2024-23835 is a vulnerability that affects Suricata, a network Intrusion Detection System, Intrusion Prevention System, and Network Security Monitoring engine. Prior to version 7.0.3, excessive memory use during pgsql parsing could lead to out-of-memory (OOM) crashes. The vulnerability has been patched in version 7.0.3, but users can also disable the pgsql app layer parser as a workaround. The potential danger of this vulnerability to an organization is high, as it can result in denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and disrupt the availability of the Suricata system.
