Summary
CVE-2024-23301 is a vulnerability that affects Relax-and-Recover (aka ReaR) versions up to 2.7. This vulnerability allows local attackers to gain access to system secrets otherwise only readable by root, by creating a world-readable initrd when using GRUB_RESCUE=y.
