Summary
CVE-2024-22204 is a limited file write vulnerability affecting Whoogle Search, a self-hosted metasearch engine. Versions 0.8.3 and prior have an issue in `app/routes.py` where the `name` variable in the `config` function is not validated during user input, allowing for path manipulation. The `config_data` variable, which contains POST data, is picked and saved with `pickle.dump`, leading to the file write. The vulnerability enables an attacker to save arbitrary data, including the `url` key value pair, on the system with the application's permissions. Whoogle Search has released a patch in version 0.8.4 to address this issue.
