Summary
CVE-2024-21913 is a heap-based memory buffer overflow vulnerability in Rockwell Automation Arena Simulation software. This vulnerability allows a malicious user to insert unauthorized code into the software by overstepping the memory boundaries, resulting in an access violation. The threat actor can then run harmful code on the system, compromising the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the product. To exploit this vulnerability, the user would need to unknowingly open a malicious file shared by the threat actor. The base severity of this vulnerability is rated as HIGH, with a score of 7.8 out of 10.
