Summary
CVE-2024-21913 is a critical heap-based memory buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Rockwell Automation Arena Simulation software. This issue allows a malicious user to insert unauthorized code into the software by overstepping the intended memory boundaries. By doing so, the attacker can trigger an access violation, potentially gaining control over the system. The consequences of this vulnerability include threats to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the product. The user must be tricked into opening a malicious file from the attacker to exploit this vulnerability.
