Summary

CVE-2024-21617 is an Incomplete Cleanup vulnerability in the Nonstop active routing (NSR) component of Juniper Networks Junos OS. This vulnerability allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a memory leak, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. The affected products include various versions of Junos OS, such as 21.2, 21.3, 21.4, 22.1, 22.2, 22.3, and 22.4. However, NSR is not supported on the SRX Series and is therefore not affected by this vulnerability. To remediate this issue, a manual reboot of the system is required to restore services. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability is the disruption of network services due to the memory leak caused by a BGP flap.
