Summary

CVE-2024-21600 is an Improper Neutralization of Equivalent Special Elements vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS on select PTX Series devices. This issue allows unauthenticated, adjacent attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by exploiting a host path wedge condition. The vulnerability occurs when MPLS packets meant for a flexible tunnel interface are sent to the CPU instead, causing the FPC to hang and require a manual restart. Affected devices include PTX1000, PTX3000, PTX5000 with FPC3, PTX10002-60C, and PTX10008/16 with LC110x. Junos OS versions prior to 20.4R3-S8, 21.1 versions before 21.1R3-S4, 21.2 versions before 21.2R3-S6, 21.3 versions before 21.3R3-S3, 21.4 versions before 21.4R3-S5, 22.1 versions before 22.1R2-S2 and 22.1R3, and 22.2 versions before 22.2R2-S1 and 22.2R3 are impacted. The issue results in a host loopback wedge detection log message.
