Summary

CVE-2024-21600 is an Improper Neutralization of Equivalent Special Elements vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on PTX Series. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending MPLS packets to a flexible tunnel interface that is down, causing the packets to be sent to the CPU and resulting in a host path wedge condition. The affected products include PTX1000, PTX3000, PTX5000 with FPC3, PTX10002-60C, and PTX10008/16 with LC110x. Other PTX Series devices and Line Cards are not affected. To remediate this vulnerability, manual restart of the FPC is required. This vulnerability poses a potential danger to organizations as it can result in a DoS situation, impacting network availability and potentially disrupting operations.
