Summary

CVE-2024-21352 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Microsoft's Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) OLE DB provider for SQL Server. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending maliciously crafted SQL queries to a vulnerable SQL Server instance, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the target system. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to gain the same user rights as the SQL Server service account, potentially leading to serious security implications if the account has elevated privileges. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to organizations that rely on SQL Server and have not yet applied the necessary security patches.
