Summary
CVE-2024-21308 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the SQL Server Native Client OLE DB Provider. This issue permits an attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely by sending specially crafted queries. An attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to a vulnerable SQL Server system, install malware, or steal sensitive data. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability does not require authentication or valid credentials. Microsoft has released a security update to address this issue and strongly advises administrators to apply it as soon as possible to mitigate the risk.
