Summary
CVE-2024-20359 is a vulnerability that affects Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software. This vulnerability allows an authenticated, local attacker to execute arbitrary code with root-level privileges. The vulnerability occurs due to improper validation of a file when it is read from system flash memory. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by copying a crafted file to the affected device's disk0: file system. The injected code could persist across device reboots, posing a high potential danger to organizations. To remediate this vulnerability, administrators should update their devices with the latest software patches provided by Cisco.
