Summary

CVE-2024-20338 is a vulnerability found in the ISE Posture (System Scan) module of Cisco Secure Client for Linux. It can be exploited by an authenticated, local attacker to elevate privileges on the affected device. The vulnerability arises from the use of an uncontrolled search path element, enabling an attacker to copy a malicious library file to a specific directory and convince an administrator to restart a process. If successful, the attacker can execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the compromised device. This vulnerability has a base severity rating of HIGH and poses a significant risk to organizations using the affected products.
