Summary
CVE-2024-20271 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting Cisco Access Point (AP) Software. This issue stems from insufficient input validation of certain IPv4 packets during IP packet processing. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted IPv4 packet, leading to a denial of service (DoS) condition on the affected device. The device may unexpectedly reload as a result, causing the disruption. It's important to note that an attacker does not require association with the access point to exploit this vulnerability. Lastly, this vulnerability does not allow exploitation using IPv6 packets.
