Summary

CVE-2024-20256 is a vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco AsyncOS Software for Cisco Secure Email and Web Manager and Secure Web Appliance. It allows an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against a user of the interface. The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of user input. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need to persuade a user to click on a crafted link. Successful exploitation could result in the execution of arbitrary script code in the affected interface or access to sensitive browser-based information. The vulnerability has a CVSS base score of 4.8, indicating a medium severity level.
