Summary

CVE-2024-1872 is a vulnerability found in the Button plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 1.1.28. It allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject a PHP object through deserialization of untrusted input in the button_shortcode function. If there is a POP chain present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it could enable the attacker to delete files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code. The base severity of this vulnerability is rated as HIGH with a base score of 8.8 according to security@wordfence.com.
