Summary
CVE-2024-1777 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the Admin side data storage for Contact Form 7 plugin in WordPress. Versions up to and including 1.1.1 are susceptible to this issue. The vulnerability stems from inadequate nonce validation on the settings update function, allowing unauthenticated attackers to manipulate plugin settings by tricking administrators into executing a malicious request. This can lead to harmful consequences, such as unintended configuration changes, data theft, or even complete site takeover. It is crucial for WordPress users to update their Contact Form 7 plugin to a secure version as soon as possible to mitigate the risk.
