Summary
CVE-2024-1753 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting Buildah and Podman Build. This issue permits containers to mount arbitrary locations on the host filesystem during container build time. A malicious Containerfile can exploit this flaw by using a symbolic link to the root filesystem as a mount source, leading to the host root filesystem being mounted inside the container. Consequently, any commands executed within the RUN step will have read-write access to the host filesystem, enabling a full container escape at the build stage.
