Summary

CVE-2024-1488 is a vulnerability found in Unbound, a DNS resolver, due to incorrect default permissions. This vulnerability allows any process outside the unbound group to modify the unbound runtime configuration. An attacker who can connect over localhost to port 8953 can alter the configuration of unbound.service, potentially disrupting resolving altogether and allowing them to track all queries forwarded by the local resolver.
