Summary

CVE-2024-1425 is a vulnerability affecting the EmbedPress – Embed PDF, YouTube, Google Docs, Vimeo, Wistia Videos, Audios, Maps & Any Documents in Gutenberg & Elementor plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages using the Google Calendar Widget Link. The vulnerability occurs due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. It affects all versions of the plugin up to and including 3.9.8. The potential danger is that whenever a user accesses an injected page, the arbitrary web scripts will execute. The severity of this vulnerability is rated as MEDIUM with a base score of 6.4 out of 10 according to CVSS:3.1 metrics. Remediation requires updating the affected plugin to a version beyond 3.9.8 that includes proper input sanitization and output escaping measures.
