Summary
CVE-2024-1282 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Email Encoder – Protect Email Addresses and Phone Numbers plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the plugin's shortcode, which fails to adequately sanitize and escape user-supplied attributes. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject malicious scripts into pages. When a user accesses an infected page, the injected scripts will execute, potentially stealing sensitive data or taking control of the user's account. This vulnerability impacts all versions up to and including 2.2.0.
