Summary
CVE-2024-1172: A critical vulnerability was discovered in the Essential Addons for Elementor plugin for WordPress. This Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, affecting versions up to 5.9.8, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts via the Accordion widget. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, potentially leading to data theft or unauthorized actions. Attackers can exploit this flaw to gain control over affected websites and compromise user data. It is strongly recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of the plugin or disable the Accordion widget until a patch is available.
