Summary
CVE-2024-1169 is a vulnerability affecting the User Submissions plugin for WordPress, specifically the Post Form – Registration Form – Profile Form component. The issue lies in the buddyforms_upload_handle_dropped_media function, where a capability check is missing. This oversight allows unauthenticated attackers to upload media files, posing a potential security risk. Versions up to and including 2.8.7 of the plugin are vulnerable to this unauthorized media upload.
