Summary

CVE-2024-1073 is a vulnerability that affects the SlimStat Analytics plugin for WordPress in versions up to and including 5.1.3. The vulnerability is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, which allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. This means that whenever a user accesses an injected page, the scripts will execute. The vulnerability arises due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. To remediate the issue, users are advised to update their SlimStat Analytics plugin to version 5.1.4 or later, which includes the necessary security patches. The potential danger of this vulnerability lies in the fact that it can be exploited by authenticated attackers to execute malicious scripts, leading to various security risks such as data theft, defacement of web pages, and potential infection of site visitors with malware.
