Summary

CVE-2024-1048 is a vulnerability that affects the grub2-set-bootflag utility of grub2. After fixing CVE-2019-14865, this utility creates a temporary file with new content and renames it to the original file. However, if the program is killed before the rename operation, the temporary file remains and can fill up the filesystem when invoked multiple times, resulting in a lack of available inodes or blocks. The vulnerability has a low base severity score of 3.3 and requires low privileges and local access for exploitation. It poses a potential danger to organizations as it can lead to a filesystem outage. The affected products include uKQez7, aXjN6B, eCJhKK, sgaPme, d0rE62, and nv-TCv. Remediation measures should be taken to ensure that temporary files are properly removed to prevent any filesystem issues.
