CVE-2024-0597 is a vulnerability that affects the SEO Plugin by Squirrly SEO plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 12.3.15. The vulnerability is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue that occurs due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the admin settings. Authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions or higher can exploit this vulnerability to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which will be executed when a user accesses the injected page. It is important to note that this vulnerability only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update their WordPress installation to the latest version of the plugin as soon as possible. If left unpatched, this vulnerability poses a medium risk to organizations, allowing attackers to execute malicious scripts and potentially compromise user data or perform further attacks on the affected website.
