Summary
CVE-2024-0450 is a vulnerability found in the CPython `zipfile` module affecting versions 3.12.2, 3.11.8, 3.10.13, 3.9.18, and 3.8.18 and earlier versions. It allows for the creation of zip-bombs with a high compression ratio, exploiting the zip format. The fixed versions of CPython reject zip archives that have overlapping entries in the archive, thus mitigating the vulnerability risk. The base severity of this vulnerability is rated as MEDIUM with a base score of 6.2 according to CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H vector string provided by Python.org.
