Summary

CVE-2024-0206 is a symbolic link manipulation vulnerability in Trellix Anti-Malware Engine prior to the January 2024 release. It affects the affected product uLE7DV. An authenticated local user can potentially exploit this vulnerability to gain an escalation of privileges by adding a symbolic link entry to the registry under the Trellix ENS registry folder. This allows the user access to files they wouldn't normally have permission for. The Engine follows these links during a scan and removes the files, posing a potential danger to an organization's integrity and confidentiality. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of HIGH, with a base score of 7.8 according to [email protected]. Remediation would involve updating to the January 2024 release of Trellix Anti-Malware Engine.
