Summary

CVE-2023-7216 is a path traversal vulnerability found in the CPIO utility. This vulnerability could be exploited by a remote unauthenticated attacker to deceive a user into opening a specially crafted archive. As a result, the archiver could follow symlinks outside of the intended directory, enabling the attacker to write files in arbitrary directories through symlinks. The affected products include QtrxS6, dCiVOI, dCiVOH, ihNvs0, aXjN6B, eCJhKK, d0rE62, sgaPme, and nv-TCv. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM and requires user interaction to exploit.
