Summary

CVE-2023-7071 is a vulnerability affecting the Essential Blocks – Page Builder Gutenberg Blocks, Patterns & Templates plugin for WordPress. The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and exists in all versions up to and including 4.4.6 of the plugin. It is caused by insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the Table of Contents block, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. When users access an injected page, these scripts can be executed, posing a potential danger to organizations using the vulnerable plugin. To remediate this vulnerability, users are advised to update the Essential Blocks plugin to a version beyond 4.4.6 that includes appropriate security patches.
