Summary

CVE-2023-7070 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Email Encoder – Protect Email Addresses and Phone Numbers plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 2.1.9, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level or above permissions to inject malicious scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the eeb_mailto shortcode. Consequently, every time a user accesses an injected page, the inserted scripts will be executed.
