Summary
CVE-2023-7029 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the MaxButtons plugin for WordPress. The issue, present in all versions up to and including 9.7.6, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's shortcodes. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts will be executed whenever a user accesses an injected page. Version 9.7.6 introduced partial mitigations for this vulnerability.
