Summary

CVE-2023-7029 is a vulnerability affecting the WordPress Button Plugin MaxButtons plugin for WordPress. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, leading to Stored Cross-Site Scripting. This vulnerability exists in all versions of the plugin up to and including 9.7.6 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. Although the vulnerability was partially fixed in version 9.7.6, organizations using affected versions should update to the latest version available. The potential danger of this vulnerability lies in the ability for attackers to execute malicious scripts when users access the injected pages, potentially compromising sensitive information or conducting further attacks on the organization's website or users.
