Summary

CVE-2023-6986 is a vulnerability found in the EmbedPress - Embed PDF, YouTube, Google Docs, Vimeo, Wistia Videos, Audios, Maps & Any Documents in Gutenberg & Elementor plugin for WordPress. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts using the plugin's embed_oembed_html shortcode. This can lead to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks on pages accessed by users. The vulnerability affects all versions of the plugin up to 3.9.5 (exclusive). Remediation for this vulnerability involves updating the plugin to a version beyond 3.9.5 or applying any available patches or fixes provided by the plugin developer.
