Summary

CVE-2023-6847 is an improper authentication vulnerability found in GitHub Enterprise Server, affecting all versions since 3.9. This vulnerability allows attackers to bypass Private Mode by using a specially crafted API request, but network access to the Enterprise Server appliance configured in Private Mode is required for exploitation. The issue was fixed in versions 3.9.7, 3.10.4, and 3.11.1 of GitHub Enterprise Server. The vulnerability poses a high risk with a base severity rating of HIGH and an impact score of 3.6 out of 10. Organizations using affected versions should upgrade to the patched versions to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access to their GitHub Enterprise Server instances.
