Details
Summary
CVE-2023-6701 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 6.2.4, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts into custom text fields. The insufficient sanitization and output escaping of user inputs enable the attacker to execute arbitrary web scripts on pages visited by other users. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unintended website behavior, unauthorized access, or data theft. Users are strongly advised to update their ACF plugin to the latest version, 6.2.5 or later, to mitigate this risk.
