Summary

CVE-2023-6687 is a vulnerability affecting Elastic Agent. The issue allows for sensitive or private information to be logged at the WARN or ERROR level if the ingestion of an event to Elasticsearch fails with any 4xx HTTP status code, except 409 or 429. To remediate this vulnerability, Elastic has released versions 8.11.3 and 7.17.16 that limit these types of logs to DEBUG level logging, which is disabled by default. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability is categorized as MEDIUM severity, with a high impact on confidentiality and low complexity for exploitation.
