Summary

CVE-2023-6497 is a vulnerability affecting the WordPress Simple Shopping Cart plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 4.7.1. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages through the automatic redirect URL setting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This can lead to the execution of injected scripts whenever a user accesses an affected page. The vulnerability only impacts multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update to a version of the plugin that addresses the issue. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability is that it could enable attackers to conduct cross-site scripting attacks, potentially compromising user data and website functionality.
