Summary
CVE-2023-6135 is a newly disclosed cybersecurity vulnerability that affects the NSS (Network Security Services) library in Firefox versions below 121. Multiple NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) curves used by NSS were found susceptible to a side-channel attack called "Minerva". This attack could enable an adversary to recover the private key, posing a significant risk to the security of encrypted communications. The side-channel vulnerability is a type of attack that exploits information leakage from the power consumption or electromagnetic emanations of a device during cryptographic operations. Firefox users are advised to update their web browsers to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
