Summary

CVE-2023-5774 is a vulnerability found in the Animated Counters plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts through the plugin's shortcode(s). The vulnerability exists in all versions up to and including 1.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. When an attacker successfully injects a script, it will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM and a base score of 5.4 according to [email protected], indicating a moderate level of danger. Organizations using affected versions should update to the latest version of the Animated Counters plugin to remediate this vulnerability and prevent potential exploitation.
