Summary

CVE-2023-5742 is a vulnerability affecting the EasyRotator for WordPress plugin in all versions up to and including 1.0.14. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages using the 'easyrotator' shortcode. This can lead to stored cross-site scripting, as the plugin lacks input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. The potential danger lies in the ability for these injected scripts to execute whenever a user accesses an affected page. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update to a version of the plugin that includes proper input sanitization and output escaping measures.
