Summary

CVE-2023-5741 is a vulnerability found in the POWR plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 2.1.0. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts through the plugin's 'powr-powr-pack' shortcode, leading to stored cross-site scripting. Insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes make it possible for these injected scripts to execute whenever a user accesses an affected page. The risk score for this vulnerability is 25, with a base severity of MEDIUM. Remediation should involve updating the POWR plugin to a version that has addressed the issue. This vulnerability poses a potential danger to organizations using vulnerable versions of the POWR plugin by allowing attackers to execute malicious code within their websites, potentially compromising user data or spreading malware.
