Summary

CVE-2023-5669 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability affecting the Featured Image Caption plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 0.8.10, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject malicious scripts through the plugin's shortcode and post meta. The insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes enable the attacker to execute arbitrary web scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page.
