Summary

CVE-2023-5639 is a vulnerability found in the Team Showcase plugin for WordPress. It affects all versions up to and including 2.1. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level or higher permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts using the plugin's 'tmfshortcode' shortcode, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This means that whenever a user accesses an injected page, the injected script will execute. The vulnerability has a base severity of MEDIUM, with low privileges required and no user interaction needed. It has a CVSS score of 6.4 out of 10 and poses a potential risk to organizations using the affected plugin versions, as it could allow attackers to perform cross-site scripting attacks. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update the Team Showcase plugin to the latest version available.
