CVSS 3.1 Score 5.4 of 10 (medium)
Details
Summary
CVE-2023-5615 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Skype Legacy Buttons plugin for WordPress. This issue exists in all versions up to and including 3.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'skype-status' shortcode. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This poses a significant risk for data theft, unauthorized account access, and other malicious activities. It is strongly recommended that users update to the latest version of the plugin and implement additional security measures to mitigate the risk of XSS attacks.
