Details
Summary
CVE-2023-5507 is a vulnerability affecting the ImageMapper plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 1.2.6. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts using the 'imagemap' shortcode, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This can result in stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks, where injected scripts are executed whenever a user accesses an affected page. The risk score for this vulnerability is 25 out of 100, indicating a medium severity level. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update to the latest version of the ImageMapper plugin as soon as it becomes available.
