Summary

CVE-2023-5468 is a vulnerability found in the Slick Contact Forms plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability affects versions up to and including 1.3.7 of the plugin. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to exploit stored cross-site scripting (XSS) by injecting arbitrary web scripts using the 'dcscf-link' shortcode. Insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes contribute to this vulnerability. The danger lies in the potential for attackers to execute their injected scripts whenever a user accesses an affected page. The National Vulnerability Database (NVD) rates this vulnerability as medium severity with a base score of 5.4 out of 10, requiring low privileges and user interaction, and having a low impact on integrity and confidentiality. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update the Slick Contact Forms plugin to a version beyond 1.3.7 where this issue has been addressed.
