Summary

CVE-2023-5438 is a vulnerability found in the wp image slideshow plugin for WordPress, affecting versions up to and including 12.0. The vulnerability allows for SQL Injection attacks due to insufficient escaping on user-supplied parameters and lack of preparation on existing SQL queries. This can be exploited by authenticated attackers with subscriber-level and above permissions to inject additional SQL queries into existing ones, potentially leading to unauthorized access and extraction of sensitive information from the database. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM (6.5) and a confidentiality impact rating of HIGH. It has not been modified since its discovery and affects multiple products related to the plugin.
