Summary

CVE-2023-5292 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Advanced Custom Fields: Extended plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 0.8.9.3, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'acfe_form' shortcode. As a result, injected pages will execute and deliver the attacker's scripts whenever an unsuspecting user accesses the manipulated page.
