Summary

CVE-2023-5291 is a vulnerability affecting the Blog Filter plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 1.5.3. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages using the 'AWL-BlogFilter' shortcode, leading to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. The vulnerability arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes. Organizations using any of the affected products are at risk of having malicious scripts executed when users access the injected pages.
