Details
Summary
[CVE-2023-52443] The Linux kernel contains a vulnerability in the AppArmor feature that can result in a crash. This occurs when processing a specific profile format, where an empty profile name is incorrectly treated as only containing a namespace. As a result, a null pointer dereference occurs, leading to a general protection fault. This behavior is expected in certain instances, but a more robust solution would be to deny the whole profile set replacement in such cases and inform the user with an EPROTO error and an explanatory message. This vulnerability was discovered by the Linux Verification Center.
